Find Boxes was made out of necessity

Our founder, Stephen Bromfield, spent years managing AV operations for a major university—the kind of environment where an overlooked cable or misplaced projector could derail a board presentation or a graduation ceremony. The timelines were tight, with zero margin for error.

Like most AV professionals, his team relied on a patchwork of spreadsheets, shared drives, and generic software that was never designed for the realities of technical event support and audio-visual installation. They made it work. But “making it work” meant late nights rebuilding quotes, hunting down gear across multiple buildings, and constantly answering the same question: where’s the equipment? 

Stephen knew there had to be a better way.

He started sketching out a system designed specifically for how AV teams actually operate—not how software companies think they should. A platform where you could quote a job accurately without manual guesswork, know exactly where every piece of gear is at any moment, and move a project from idea to installed or to show-ready without the chaos. 

That vision became Find Boxes: AV inventory management and project tracking software built by someone who’s lived the job.
